Present Computer System

My latest toy is my new Apple iTouch. I love being able to carry my mp3's with me, and my pod casts. I am ajusting to moving my calendar and contacts over from my Garmin PDA.

I am also using a AMD Athlon XP 2400+mhz; 2GB of memory; and a ATI All-In-Wonder Video card; a Sound Blaster Live sound card; a 120 GB Hard Drive and a 300 GB Hard Drive. I'm using a 19" LCD flat pannel Monitor; OptoRite 2.4x DVD+RW & 2x DVD-RW; Digital Research 48x16x48 CD-RW; Epson Perfection Photo 1200U Flatbed Scanner (1200x2400dpi & 8.5x11) with 20 page document feeder; Logitech Cam (color digitial camera for use with CUSeeMe & Yahoo); Wacom ArtPad II 4x5 Graphic Tablet; Logitech TrackMan Wheel; Griffin Technology's PowerMate USB Multimedia Controller & Input Device; HP Color LaserJet 2605dn (Postscript, auto duplexing, 12ppm, 1200dpi b/w; 600dpi color); HP LaserJet 4M Plus (Postscript, 12ppm, 600dpi); Alps MD-1000 Dry Ink (dye sublimation) Photo Printer (1200x1200dpi); Epson Stylus Photo 900 Printer (1440x720dpi); Altec Lansing speakers a with sub-woofer; all running in Windows XP Professional.

Lynn's laptop is a Sony Vaio PCG-F490, a 40 GB Hard Drive, DVD and 128 megs of memory. I've connected a Fellowes Secure Touch Fingerprint Reader & Optical Mouse (so Lynn doesn't have to enter any passwords while surfing the net).

My browser of choice is FireFox; email program is Google Mail; newsreader is NewsShark; genealogy program is Legacy 4.0; HTML editor is Adobe GoLive CS2.

Other software I like and use: Adobe Effects 4.1; Adobe Dimensions 3.0; Adobe GoLive CS2; Adobe Illustrator CS2; Adobe PageMaker 7; Adobe PageMill 3.0; Adobe Photoshop CS2 PC & Mac; Adobe Premiere 7 PC & Mac; American Greetings CreataCard Gold 4.0; Corel Office 2000; DeLorme Street Atlas 2005; Macromedia Flash MX 2004; MetaCreations Canoma 1.1; Norton SystemWorks Pro; WinFax Pro 10.3; Omnipage Pro 14; OmniForm Pro 5.0; PaperPort Pro 9.0; Parson's Complete Legal Collection; Parson Technology's Medical Drug Reference 4.5; Parson Technology's QuickVerse; Quicken Deluxe and Pocket Quicken (for my Garmin iQue 3600); Quicken QuickBooks Pro; SpywareBlaster; VuePrint Pro; WeatherBug; WinPatrol Pro; and ZoneAlarm Pro. I also have Microsoft Office 2003 Professional, I use it, but I don't like it.

I have retired carrying my Garmin iQue 3600 PDA with a 2 GB SD card, in favor of my iTouch. However, I still keep it beside my computer and use its may features. The Garmin iQue 3600 used to keep me on schedule, and keep me from getting lost as it's also a GPS. I used: Teal Phone; Teal Glance; Teal Echo; Datebook 5; Adobe Acrobat Reader for Palm; OliveTree Bible Reader; DietLog; KarKare 2.5; Personal Ancestory File (allows me to carry all 2,800+ ancestors, sources, and notes with me always); PilotMe Devotional; Pocket Quicken; Punch Clock; ShopList (fantastic shopping list program); WordSmith (interfaces with MSWord); Backup Buddy (allows complete backup of all 3rd party data and memory stick); Commander; FPS Clock 2; STRIP (Secure Tool for Recalling Important Passwords, 256 bit encryption); X-Master (Hack manager); Launcher X (to manage the Garmin desktop).

Recently I've had a lady imply I might be a computer nerd, but I doubt she knew what she was talking about. I mean I don't have a pocket protector, there isn't room with my Apple iTouch, business card case, gold Cross fountain pen all in my shirt pocket. Oh and of course my digital recorder in my sport coat or motorcycle vest pocket. <grin>.
